A good editor helps create a great book. We edit to the highest standards for story, historical content, voice, grammar, and structure. Our editing services include the following:
Developmental Editing looks at the big picture, the overall structure of the book, and how various elements work together to create a cohesive narrative.
Copyediting focuses on the mechanics of the text, such as grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
Proofreading strives to catch any errors that may have slipped through and usually takes place after the book has been paginated.
We will work with you to create an index for your book if needed. There are three main types of indexes:
- Proper Noun—includes only proper nouns used in the book. e.g. Canada; Castro, Fidel; Civil War; Cuba
- Technical—includes selected proper and common nouns used in the book. e.g. Canada; Castro, Fidel; Civil War; codfish; coral; crab; Cuba
- Thematic—includes ideas related to proper and common nouns. Could include the same categories as Technical index, but in a more general sense. e.g. Under Cuba, if the word Cuba was not listed but the page was about Cuba, the page(s) would be included in the index.
